Five for Friday on a Saturday!

Hello Everyone!
I am linking with Doodlebugs.

Here are my five for this week:

1.
My class is finally finished!!!!  This was my first full week off.  It was such a good class.  Stuff I could really use in my classroom.  I don't know why they don't offer it when your are in college.  This was one of our anchor charts.  Don't judge us it was early during vacation so this is about all the creativity we had.  Ha!  (Sometimes it is so hard to work in groups when you have a lot of controlling personalities.  This is all that the 2 ladies would agree on.  One didn't want it too cute!  and the other didn't want it to boring since she teaches kindergarten.  Ugh!  It was annoying.)

2.
This is week is hot hot hot!  I have lived in Las Vegas for about 9 years now and I know that summers are hot but this week is miserable.  Today it is going to be 117.  AHHHHHH!

3.
Since it has been so hot this week we have been doing a lot of indoor activities.  This week we visited the Childrens Museum twice.  Here is my son dressed up as a builder.  This exhibit is so cool.  You get to build tall foam buildings and then you could knock them down with a crane.  Super fun!

This is my little guy on the pirate ship.  Of course we had to get into character.  ARG!!!!

We have also been enjoying a couple of movies.

We are trying to stay cool.

4.
I know everyone has heard about Google Reader. Honestly I still don't really understand it.  I usually just read my blogs through my blog.  Is that going away???  The only time I actually used google reader was in school because blogger is blocked.  Well I didn't want to miss out on my favorite blogs so I joined BLOGLOVIN.  Make sure you follow me there so that you don't miss out as well.  Just click on the button on my sidebar.

5.
Here is what I have been working on:

They are editable and a great way to keep your students, parents, and yourself organized!  Last year I had a Beach them so I used my Beach Binder and this year I used my STAR book.  I had a request to do a Superhero themed book so TADAH!  Here it is.  Its a great way to keep papers organized.  It included an explanation of all items included for you and parents.  Just click on the pics to head on over to my TPT!

Make sure you link you your  FIVE For Friday (on a Saturday) Ha!
Now I am off to enjoy my HOT Saturday.

Five for Friday and a Freebie!

Hello Everyone!
I am linking with Doodlebugs.

Well anyways here are my five for this week:

1.
Can I just tell you how much I can't wait to start my summer vacation.  I got out of school last Wednesday and got to take 2 days off and then on Monday I started my Reading Academy.  I cannot wait until next Wednesday to really take advatage of summer. As much as I love learning about Reading I would rather be in my PJ's all day.
Driving to class at 6:30am  I saw this.

Not a good picture since I was driving (Shhhh! don't call the cops on me!)
I don't know about all of you but I love Hot Air Ballons.  Seeing them in the sky makes me feel happy. It kind of makes me feel like a kid again.  I would never go in one because I have height issues but I love how they decorate the sky.

2.

After class I get home to this.  The boys are enjoying their summer so much.   Look at my little guys face he loves his big brother so much!

3.
Today we played tourist.  Living in Las Vegas we tend to avoid the chaos of the strip. They have so many cool things to offer but its hard to maneuver with kiddos.  Today my son wanted to check out the pirate ships at Treasure Island and the Volcano at The Mirage.  The Volcano was pretty cool as for the Pirate Ship it definitely was not what I had seed growing up.  It was not very age appropriate!
Its a shame too because their pirate show I remembered was pretty cool.  Now they have these sexy sirens that sing and dance.  Kind of awkward.  Definitely something to check out but not sure if I would bring my kiddos again.

4.
I have been getting a lot of requests for Superhero themed items.
These are a few of the Bright superhero units I have done.  I have one that is a little more subtle.  Most of my units are editable so that you can add your own information.  I am working on a Student Binder this weekend.  Any more requests just shoot me and email.

5.
Here is a little freebie for you.

Great way to get your little super readers excited about reading.  Just click on the pic to  head on over to my TPT store to download.

Hope you enjoy!

Now I am off to enjoy my Saturday.

Hollywood Baby!

Hello Everyone!

I am still alive!  I got out of school last week and it seems like I forgot about this blog but I have some good excuses.

First my little guy just had his first birthday.  Check out this pic of him looking so big.

He truly is the sweetest and happiest little boy I have met.  He always has a smile on his face.  God truly blessed us again when I got this little guy.

Second I started taking classes on Monday.  UGH!!!!  What was I thinking???? This is what greeted me on Monday morning at 7am.

Im taking a Reading Academy which I know will be beneficial but why does it have to be at 7am and be 6 hours loooooong!  UGH!

Well anyways enough on my excuses Im linking up with Leigh from
The Applicious Teacher

This linky party goes through the whole summer which is amazing!
This weeks topic is classroom decor.

I have a Hollywood Theme going on in my classroom.
I guess I was going with more of a Hollywood Chic!
Its not in your face Hollywood.

This is the front of my room.  This was from the beginning of the year which is why I have the 1st day of school frame on my board.  The papers underneath my boards are for my student work.  It worked so well through the year being so low because I could easily change it out our have a student do it.

This is the view from my door.  My table signs are Hollywood themed street signs.

This is my library.  That bookcase isn't there anymore I was just trying different configurations.

These are my VIP boards.  They are over my sink.  The Celebrity of the Week gets to bring in pics and fill out their posters.  Once their week is over they get a star to put in our walk of fame.  They love this!

This is my birthday day board.  I take the students pictures holding up their birthday and put it on their month.  Its a great visual for the beginning of the year when we are all trying to get to know each other.

This is above my small group reading area.

This is my word wall after I took all of our words off.  I love the zebra border.  I put it up with fabric and if you have ever done that you know its a pain.  You start bunching and it starts looking craaaazy!  You just have to keep going and by the end it gives it a good effect.

This pic looks a little weird.  It might be because I took it with my iPad.  Ha!
Well this is my writing center and my writing board.  It is right next to my word wall which works well because kids can use it.  I can't take credit for any of these fabulous resources.  The Writer's Eye came from one of my favorite bloggers, Cara Caroll:
The "What do Writer's Write? pencil you see came from another one of our favorite bloggers, Lindsey, at The Teacher Wife:
The writing center printables came from A Cupcake For The Teacher:  Its her Writing Center Starter Kit

This is my math wall at the back of my room.
I loved the writing center so much that I bought the math center kit.
Hey you could see my birthday wall too.

Hope you enjoyed a little trip through my room.  I plan to go in and add some more and change some things that didn't work this year but first I have to finish this class! AHHHHHHH!

Make sure you link up!

Last Day of School Sale!

Hello Everyone!

I am having a sale at my TPT store today in honor of my last day of school.  Just click on the link or any of the pics to head on over and enjoy!!!

This made me laugh so much!  Summer is when teachers become human again and I totally feel like running through the hallways this year!

My kiddos are done at 12:45.  You know its always very bittersweet.  I will miss my kiddos this year but I am definitely ready for summer.  Especially after this year.  Their were so many changes and and I felt like I was trying to survive all year trying to keep up.  This describes how I felt this year:
Next year will be different because we don't anticipate any changes with our curriculum or our grading.

If you are still in school I hope it goes smoothly and fast.  Can't wait for you to join us on the other side! Ha!  For those of you already enjoying your summer books and your travels.  I can't wait to catch up!
XOXO
